Om tekstilet Vikinggull
Denne MØRCK kolleksjonen viser et høydepunkt fra Norsk tekstilhistorie, som vist i dette rekonstruerte tekstilet fra 300 år e.Kr. Vikingens tekstiler var tekniske avanserte, vakre og funksjonelle. Krivi har brukt Norges eldste klesplagg, Lendebretunikaen, som utgangspunkt for stoffet Vikinggull. Det er et bekledningstoff som veves på Krivi. Innslaget blir spunnet på Hillesvåg ullvarefabrikk, mens renningen er spunnet på Selbu spinneri. Ullen er farget spæl i to ulike nyanser. Krivi vever i diamantkypert, en binding som var mye brukt i vikingtiden.
This Mørck wool collection highlights Norwegian textile history according to the fabric as seen in grey wool garment.
The fabric is reconstructed from the Lendebreen tunic, dated 300 years AD. This tunic is Norway,s oldest garment, found in a retreating glacier. It’s woven in diamond twill with Spelsau wool and both are period correct for viking clothing. The fabric is woven at Krivi in Norway.

Culture: Reindeer farming has been the main source of food and clothing for the native population, Sami people, in the northern part of Scandinavia and Russia for generations. The farming is under governmental control in all involved countries to avoid overloading the nature and the native population has privileges to help maintaining traditions and population of remote areas. If the market for the products of this native population disappears, they will disappear and their culture will get lost.
Carbon footprint: The food source for the animals is grass, lichen and moss that grow very slowly, and the herd is wandering over enormous distances to find enough food. Production and transport of nutrition is normally not needed.
Tanning: The tanneries have to protect the nature from pollution under strict EU regulations. Finland has enough clean water and the water consumption is not in competition with other needs.

Salmon farming represent a very low carbon emission compared to meat, approximately half of the emissions relative to pork and one tenth of the emission compared to beef according to the aquaculturally industry information site.
The leather is taken from fish that is used for food production. The leather is therefore a kind of leftover form food production.
